Randy & Rebecca – Husband and Wife

Randy and Rebecca were married last weekend in a little church at the edge of Wausau, Wisconsin.  This will be the farthest I drive to photograph a wedding this summer but it was worth every minute on the road to capture the way Rebecca beamed at her new new husband and the tons of FUN they had together and with their crazy, amazing, wedding party.

The love and support that a family brings to the couple really struck me at this wedding.  Rebecca is Daddy’s girl, and there wasn’t a dry eye on the Jeppeson side when he wrapped his arms around her at the end of the aisle. Yes, I might have been on that side…  🙂 You saw and felt the emotion and pride, the years of smiling down at this daughter, this woman– a beautiful bride.  So many details of the day were lovingly done by hand, from invitations to flowers, centerpieces and pie stands, I could see the closeness of a family who grew up helping each other on the farm.

A big thank you to my friend, Erin, for second shooting this wedding– for making the hike up north AND for just happening to have a bag full of percussion mallets in her trunk (Randy, and a couple of his groomsmen are percussionists).  Erin, you were obviously meant to help on this one.  🙂  Another big thanks to Randy, Rebecca and the Jeppeson/Foat families.  Everyone was so stinkin’ nice to work with!  We loved documenting this Christ-centered beginning and spending the day with you!  ENJOY.

On my way up to Wausau from Milwaukee the huge, puffy clouds were gorgeous!  Then they got darker and lower, and darker… and lower…then POURED.  Then they cleared up as I pulled in to the church.  Scattered showers kept us guessing but added variety and dimension to our outdoor portraits.  Any shot with Rebecca in it, no matter the weather, was going to look gorgeous!!

Shout out to downtown Wausau btw.  What a cute, eclectic downtown to wander with a coffee sometime!  I was up for a workshop last summer and remember thinking the same thing then.

These newlyweds met Rebecca’s freshman year of college and it was definitely love at first sight for Randy.  Their first conversation started with questions about band tryouts…  for a music nerd, that’s pretty attractive in itself!  Randy is still a musician and on his wedding day, of all days, became an officially published composer!  That cute heart-shaped music note cake?  Rebecca had it made to surprise her new hubby.  🙂

Randy had more than one friendship that grew and lasted through his college years- I loved photographing his groomsmen who provided a soundtrack to the day.  I wished I could record sound with my images when I heard “the sailors say, Randy, you’re a fine girl, what a good wife you would be…” and a great version of the Backstreet Boys’ As Long as You Love Me.  🙂  It was hilarious and sounded good too!  A few of the guys play in a Milwaukee area band and wrote/performed original music as a surprise for the B&G at the reception.  (Awwwww!)
