This girl first came into my life as a sweet, lanky freshman who joined our high school cross country team. Somehow we survived both high school boys AND those long runs, and Rachel grew into the loveliest woman– a fun loving, elegant bride. Being part of her and Nate’s wedding at Grace Downtown was so special! What an awesome way to kick off my sixth year of weddings. 🙂 Congrats to the Shaners! Rachel is the youngest and only girl in her family. It was sweet to capture her big brother grin and struggle once or twice to keep it together as he married off his little sis.
Rachel surprised Nate with a custom Star Wars groom’s cake. “Best. Wife. Ever.” He was pretty excited. 🙂 Nice work, Mrs. Shaner!
It poured off and on through out the wedding day but, amazingly, was clear for a few portraits with the wedding party, and after dinner at Boerner Botanical Gardens. Rachel was so looking forward to photos in the garden so we snuck 15 minutes of them in while we had the chance. The mist and the wet leaves made for a lush look– these moody shots are some of my favs of the relaxed, super-happy newlyweds:

Best choice ever by Rachel and Nathan to pick Fresh Frame Photography! They were very patient with us as we put groups of people together for photos. They take great pictures as you can see.
