Laura and Brian showed me a few of their favorite spots in Madison last week. Though I’ve been there a few times (for the awesome farmer’s market at Capitol square and a costume shop that transformed me into Sherlock Holmes… long story) I hadn’t yet walked the streets with a photographer’s eyes. What a cool city! The light, the buildings, the lake near Laura’s observatory office. A college town where these two met and will be married next June.
We started at the Capitol to ‘get it out of our system before the wedding day’ Brian said. 🙂 He proposed on the steps there, not so long ago! It was beautiful through the trees– no wonder it’s a wedding party hot spot on Saturdays. On a Thursday though, I was psyched we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Laura broke out a pair of red heels for the occasion and her smile was SO. GREAT. A ‘yup-I-LOVE-him’ smile. It’s all in the eyes, and she made a believer out of me in the first frames:

Next we headed off to the lake near Union Terrace for a gorgeous sunset. What a perfect night! Laura and Brian, your genuine happiness in each other is a obvious (super sweet!) and a gift. I can’t wait to capture your wedding next summer!
