Ryan and Rachel – Husband and Wife

A full historical church, decked for Christmas, sang “In Christ Alone” as Rachel and Ryan joined hearts and lives last week.  Why don’t more people tie the knot at Christmas?  Less decorating, plenty of time off… hmmm, more snow.  And 20 degrees.  🙂  Although they planned this wedding in about 6 weeks, you’d never know it.  Rachel was absolutely beautiful, family and friends fit a trip to Appleton into their holiday plans, and taadaaa: husband & wife!  OK, she might argue there was a little more to it than that.  But even with a short prep time, from our first phone call I was excited to document this day for such an awesome Christian couple.

Few brides carry themselves with a simple, peaceful grace like Rachel’s.  You could see she realized how blessed she was on this day, and feel gratitude in her smile.  Surrounded by loved ones, she walked the aisle to a man who’d say, ‘for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, til death do us part… I do’.  Sound nice?  It was.

No guilt in life, no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me.  From life’s first cry, to final breath- Jesus commands my destiny.  No power of hell, no scheme of man, shall ever pluck me from his hand.  Til he returns or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I stand!

Rachel’s sister gave a maid of honor speech that made some men cry.  The women, need I say it, were a mess.  🙂  Thank you, Sarah, for beautiful words… and the courage to speak them!

A whole bunch of adorable kiddos were at the wedding: crawling under the buffet tables, getting squirmy in the church pew, responsible for tons of grown ups’ smiles.  And photographer’s smiles– and cute photo ops!  One of them got it just about right:

It was freezing outside but the winter sunset was too pretty to waste.  Ryan was all about a few outdoor pics and if you have a classy satin wrap, you’ve gotta use it!  Worth some goosebumps, the happy couple:

These smelled as amazing they look.  And tasted better!  When they come out with lick-a-pic photos, this one is first in line.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Sommers!

  3. I can not even say how much I absolutely LOVE these pictures. Like my sister, they brought tears to my eyes. Sarah, I love how you have truly captured in pictures Rachel and Ryan’s pure happiness and joy. I couldn’t agree with you more about Rachel carrying herself with such grace that day. This sneek peak has me so excited to see the rest of them!
