Liz & Richard – Manchester Wisconsin, Documentary Wedding Photography

As an artist, sometimes you walk into a place and are immediately inspired.  That’s how I felt when we drove up to shoot getting ready photos at Liz’s parents’ home in the heart of farm country Wisconsin.  Family photos in black and white lined the walls, portraits of Liz and her siblings as well as wedding photos through the generations.  Even her grandparents were there to watch their grandbaby transform into the most beautiful, willowy bride.  Such sunny happiness this day, such sweetness in a mother buttoning a white dress in her daughter’s childhood bedroom.  Would that I could shoot this wedding every weekend.  🙂

Richard and Elizabeth have had a long road to the altar–school, military service, job changes, more school– but every step along the way only made them stronger.  Distance makes the heart grow fonder (isn’t that how it goes?).  Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt, it was an honor to witness and capture your wedding!  May you build a house and life that holds as many joyful memories as the place your special day began, and grow more in love each year you share together.  Congratulations!

Liz & Richard – August 9, 2014

The bride’s father performed double duty- walking his daughter down the aisle, then donning a gown to officiate the ceremony, in his own parish.
